NCI COVID-19 in Cancer Patients Study (NCCAPS) The NCI COVID-19 in Cancer Patients Study, or NCCAPS, is a natural history study of COVID-19 in people with cancer. As part of the NCCAPS study, researchers will collect blood samples, medical information, and medical images from 2,000 people with cancer who also have COVID-19. Each person will be followed for up to 2 years to help doctors understand how cancer affects COVID-19 and COVID-19 affects cancer. | ||
In a new study, a treatment regimen that is less toxic than standard dose-intensive chemotherapy was found to be highly effective for adults with Burkitt lymphoma across all age groups, regardless of HIV status. Besides being better tolerated, the regimen, called dose-adjusted (DA) EPOCH-R, is already an option for diffuse large B-cell lymphomas and can be given in an outpatient setting. | ||

Mapping Lymph Nodes to Prevent Lymphedema This phase 3 trial studies how well axillary reverse mapping works in preventing the swelling of lymph nodes (lymphedema) in patients with breast cancer undergoing axillary lymph node dissection. Axillary reverse mapping may help to preserve the lymph node drainage system around the breast to prevent lymphedema after surgery. | ||
Preventing Second Cancers in Colon Cancer Survivors In this phase 3 trial, people who have had curative surgery for colon cancer will be randomly assigned to take sulindac and a placebo, eflornithine and a placebo, both sulindac and eflornithine, or two placebo pills for 36 months. Doctors want to see if sulindac, eflornithine, or the combination of both drugs decreases the recurrence of high-risk adenomas or the development of new colon or rectal cancers. |
