World Sepsis Day | BioMed Central

BioMed Central – The Open Access Publisher
Dear Prof CERASALE MORTEO,

As of 2008, the global number of sepsis cases per year exceeds 1 million. As sepsis continues to take more lives than bowel, breast and prostate cancer combined (Sepsis Trust, 2016), we have been thinking about how you can get involved with Sepsis Awareness Month.
Raising awareness and essential research are both key in joining the fight against the increasing threat of sepsis, which is why we've shared some recently published articles below.

Get Involved
Currently on our blogs, Dr Naoshi Takeyama explains the role of theimmune system in fighting sepsis, and Dr Satoshi Gando discusses a “new definition of sepsis”.
Addtionally, listen to our podcast here, where we interviewed Critical Care Editor-in-Chief, Professor Jean-Louis Vincent, on why we should educate ourselves on sepsis.
Please feel free to distribute our content and help raise awareness about the cause, and don’t forget to use the hashtag#sepsisawarenessmonth on social media, to get involved.

Kind regards,

The BioMed Central Team
