Several mind and body practices have been studied to see if they can relieve menopause symptoms. The limited evidence currently available suggests that some of these practices may indeed improve symptoms or make them less bothersome.
  • Yoga seems to be at least as helpful as other types of exercise for menopause symptoms. In research studies, yoga reduced physical symptoms, such as hot flashes, as well as psychological symptoms.
  • Research on hypnotherapy and mindfulness meditation for menopause symptoms is in its early stages, but some studies have had promising results.
  • Acupuncture has been shown to be better than no treatment at reducing the frequency and severity of hot flashes. However, there seems to be no difference between the effects of real and simulated acupuncture.
