Parkinson's Research Moves Forward -- With You

Dear Friend, Today is World Parkinson's Day, and a moment in time to come together to raise awareness and advance research toward better therapies and a cure for Parkinson's disease. Right now, more than ever, we have an opportunity to make real strides toward our shared goal. In fact, you can make a difference without leaving home. Fox Insight is The Michael J. Fox Foundation's online clinical study that is transforming scientists' understanding of Parkinson's and accelerating the development of new treatments.   What We're Learning from You via Fox Insight Data from participants are de-identified to remove personal information (e.g. your name, age) and then made available to qualified researchers worldwide. Analysis of this unique data set -- currently the largest of its kind -- is critical to understanding how to help the millions living with Parkinson's disease. Fox Insight has a few one-time surveys open now or in the works to increase understanding around: How people with Parkinson's may be using cannabis to manage symptoms and the associated benefits and risks. How certain strategies may improve walking in people with Parkinson's. Coming soon: How COVID-19 is impacting the Parkinson’s community. A survey about "off" time received over 2,000 responses from participants with Parkinson's. Nearly half reported bothersome symptoms that would be missed by standard assessments. A key takeaway is that doctors and patients need to go beyond the list of symptoms on standard questionnaires to ensure that “off” time is recognized and treated.
