High Five of the Week | June 22, 2020

Below are five ways you can stay engaged, informed, and inspired this week.

For more, check The Michael J. Fox Foundation's
COVID-19 resource hub for information to support the worldwide Parkinson's community through this challenging time, and our virtual public events hub for a complete list of upcoming community-hosted offerings.

As always, we're in this together.

1. Currently Trending: A Special Conversation in Honor of Father's Day

Last week, MJFF Patient Council member Bryan Roberts moderated a virtual roundtable between three adult children — filmmaker and professor Cathy Lee Crane, son of Michael J. Fox, Sam Fox, and host of NBC’s American Ninja Warrior and MJFF Board member Akbar Gbajabiamila — about how they each have navigated having a father with PD.

2. Virtual Event Spotlight: Virtual Tour de Fox Ride

MJFF’s Tour de Fox Cycling Series is shifting gears and going virtual! All in-person events will be replaced by a unified virtual ride on Saturday, August 29. Cyclists can pick their own route and distance — outdoors or on a stationary bike — to make their miles count toward a cure.

3. Parkinson’s Podcast: Keeping Connected During the Pandemic When you Have Parkinson’s

In the fourth episode of our COVID-19 limited series, host Larry Gifford leads a conversation with MJFF’s Rachel Dolhun, MD, and Nataly Kogan, founder of Happier Inc. and author of Happier Now, about ways to stay connected with your community, loved ones and yourself in a time of uncertainty.

4. In Case You Missed It: Moving with Mood Changes in Parkinson’s

Watch our latest Third Thursdays Webinar on demand. Panelists discuss how and why mood changes, such as depression and anxiety, happen in Parkinson’s; how you and your loved ones can talk about these symptoms with each other and with your providers; and what treatment options are available.

5. #TogetherAtHome: Talking about Diet and Parkinson’s

Join us on our social channels as we revisit a popular topic: diet and Parkinson’s. Download our free diet guide, share your favorite healthy meals and snacks, and get tips from the community.
