'Terrified' doctors on the front lines against coronavirus face pay cuts
Already overwhelmed by the scarcity of protective gear and the dangers of treating a highly contagious virus, many American doctors on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic have been dealt another punch in the gut. In recent days and weeks, doctors across the country have been notified that their pay will be slashed during the height of the coronavirus health emergency.
President Trump said Monday he would make a decision -- "in conjunction" with governors and other officials -- on reopening the economy "shortly," as the White House forms a second coronavirus task force focused on that goal.
More than 3,600 deaths nationwide have been linked to coronavirus outbreaks in nursing homes and long-term care facilities, an alarming rise in just the past two weeks, according to the latest count by The Associated Press.
A U.S. sailor who was admitted to the intensive care unit at a Navy hospital in Guam after contracting the coronavirus has died, Navy officials said Monday.
Dr. Robert Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told "Fox & Friends" the coronavirus outbreak has stabilized nationwide. He added that the virus has not peaked yet, but "we're close."
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer doubled down on their calls for an “interim emergency” coronavirus relief package on Monday, renewing their efforts to get more than $500 billion in additional funding for Americans, businesses and hospitals amid the pandemic.
China on Monday reported its largest uptick in new coronavirus infections in more than a month but said most of the cases are imported.
And some good news from Britain: U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested negative for the coronavirus, his spokesman, James Slack, said Monday, one day after Johnson was released from the hospital.
