Respectful maternity care – the way forward

Despite the recent publication of the Respectful Maternity Care Charter, reports of disrespect and abuse in maternity care continue to be common in low-resource settings. A new paper in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth explores the perception and understanding of respectful maternity care, and lack thereof, among both women and healthcare providers in a hospital in Malawi.
