Featured article: Identifying lung water quantification using cardiovascular magnetic resonance

Pulmonary edema is a central feature of heart failure found in >50% of patients with acute decompensated or ambulatory disease. However, there are no quantitative tests currently available in clinical practice. In this study, Thompson et al. developed a simple magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) approach for lung water quantification, to correlate MRI derived lung water with intra-cardiac pressures and to determine its prognostic significance.
