Share Your Experiences to Advance Parkinson's Research

Carol Whitlatch is a full-time researcher who studies dementia at Ohio's Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging. Three years ago, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and went from researcher to research participant. "The irony is not lost on me," she says.

Whitlatch discovered
Fox Insight through her earlier involvement in the 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service, which she joined because of her job. Fox Insight is an online clinical study where participants, with or without Parkinson's, answer questions about day-to-day symptoms and medical history. Eligible Fox Insight participants can add their genetic information from 23andMe to the study and provide scientists with a more complete understanding of Parkinson's, which may inform the development of new treatments.

"Answering the questions totally makes me feel like it's possible to make a difference here. Being involved feels like a natural fit," Whitlatch says.
