Second infections raise three questions about long-term immunity to COVID-19 and the prospects for a vaccine: how common are reinfections, how severe are they, and what are the implications for vaccine development?

GTR now has tests for microbes like for SARS-CoV-2 to diagnose COVID-19. Scope includes pathogen-specific genetic tests; panels to identify pathogens; tests that assess viral load; serologic tests for detection of antibodies and antigens to determine prior exposure.
The profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the NIH Genetic Testing Registry (GTR) to expand its scope to include microbe tests. We will focus initially on molecular tests to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus and serology tests to detect viral antigens and antibodies to the virus.
The results of our meta-analysis indicate that SARS-CoV-2 positive individuals are more likely to have blood group A (pooled OR 1.23, 95%CI: 1.09-1.40) and less likely to have blood group O (pooled OR=0.77, 95%CI: 0.67-0.88).
