Ask the MD Video: Young-onset Parkinson's

Dear Friend,

The average age of diagnosis for Parkinson's is late 50s or early 60s. But some people are diagnosed at age 50 or even younger. Doctors call this young- or earlier-onset Parkinson's disease (PD). No matter when PD is diagnosed, the symptoms and treatments are the same. But younger people often have different considerations as they may be building careers, starting families and looking ahead to more years with Parkinson's.

Watch the video to learn more about young-onset Parkinson's.

Our Ask the MD videos and blogs provide practical information for life with Parkinson's. Watch the website and your email for regular updates on PD care and research.

Best,

Rachel Dolhun, MD
