Dartmouth Health Promotion Research Center will cohost “Tenth Annual C. Everett Koop, M.D., Tobacco Treatment Conference: It’s Not Just Cigarettes Anymore,” September 28, 8 am-4:30 pm EST.  THEMATIC NETWORKS CDC Epilepsy Program highlights pilots of three evidence-based Managing Epilepsy Well (MEW) Network programs that start this summer. MEW Network publishes Epilepsy Self-Management Checklist brochure for adults with epilepsy. MEW Network web site includes a link to the NEW Community Health Worker Curriculum on Epilepsy Self-Management. In May 2018, members of the Cancer Prevention and Control Network held their annual spring meeting in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.   New resource available from Nutrition Obesity Prevention and Evaluation’s (NOPREN) Hunger Safety Clinical Linkages Workgroup!  Download the new Food Insecurity Screening and Referral Algorithms:  For Adults, Patients Living with Diabetes, and Pediatric Patients. AWARDS The University of Arizona PRC received the 2017 The Andy Nichols Award, from the American Medical College Health Committee, celebrating organizations’ efforts to improve the quality of life in the Arizona-Mexico region through binational initiatives. Dartmouth Study comparing self-management health programs for people with serious mental illness received $7.5 million PCORI Funding Award. Case Western Reserve PRC’s Martha Sajatovic, MD, named Ohio Epilepsy Association’s 2018 Legacy Award winner in recognition of leadership and collaboration skills. Kevin Volpp, MD, PhD, appointed University of Pennsylvania inaugural chair holder of The Founders President’s Distinguished Professorship April 23. University of Pittsburgh PRC Director Anne Newman, MD, MPH, named clinical director of Aging Institute of University of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. University of South Carolina PRC Director Sara Wilcox, PhD, elected Board of Trustees member of the American College of Sports Medicine. CDC PRC PROGRAM PRODUCTS The PRCs produce hundreds of publications each year and the CDC and the PRC program office develops products to promote those publications and research findings: CDC web feature from University of South Carolina PRC focuses on “Ways to Improve Arthritis Symptoms.” A new Prevention Research Matters podcast from University of Oregon Health and Science Center PRC: Telemedicine and Diabetic Eye Disease is available.
