The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services' (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) knows how important it is for you to have the latest public health prevention and treatment information to help promote healthy activities where you live, work, and play. Transform the lives of individuals with a disability by implementing I Can Do It! (ICDI). ICDI is a free, customizable program model that provides opportunities, information, resources, and support to help individuals with a disability lead healthy, active lifestyles. Financial incentives are currently available to implement and evaluate the impact of ICDI in community health promotion programs! Schools and organizations may earn up to $5,000 to participate in the ICDI Evaluation Incentive Opportunity. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 12. Learn more and apply here. USDA Proclaims National WIC Breastfeeding Week On August 1, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue proclaimed Aug. 1-7 as National WIC Breastfeeding Week. Each year, National WIC Breastfeeding Week is held in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week during the first week of August to promote and support breastfeeding as the best source of nutrition for a baby’s first year of life.  For more information on the WIC Breastfeeding Support campaign, please visit WICBreastfeeding.fns.usda.gov August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month In celebration of Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the U.S. Department on Health & Human Services' Office on Women's Health is compiling information for sharing that women can use to be successful at breastfeeding. Expect this information soon!  HHS announces grantees for Title X family planning program services Last Thursday, July 27, 2018, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office of Population Affairs announced the 96 grantees HHS intends to award Title X family planning service grants to for fiscal year 2019. Twelve of the intended awards go to grantees who are new to Title X.   These grants, which are expected to be awarded no later than September 1, 2018, cover all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and six Pacific jurisdictions, and support delivery of Title X services in almost 4,000 service sites. Title X service grants are awarded through a competitive process to public and private nonprofit entities including state and local health departments, hospitals, university health centers, and nonprofit organizations, including community health centers. “Today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to continue providing access to high-quality family planning and related preventive health services with an emphasis on overall health and well-being of every person,” said Assistant Secretary for Health Brett P.
