In observance of World Hand Hygiene Day, CDC reminds everyone that practicing good hand hygiene, such as handwashing and using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, is a simple yet effective way to help prevent the spread of germs and protect against serious infections.
New for 2019, the Clean Hands Count campaign has expanded to include patient and provider educational materials in Spanish and new resources designed to encourage proper hand hygiene in dialysis centers and long-term care facilities. These resources are intended to empower patients to ask healthcare providers to clean their hands and to guide healthcare personnel in the importance of providing patients with clean care by cleaning hands often.
Visit CDC’s Hand Hygiene website for materials in Spanish and other additional information and materials.

Clean Care For All

Clean care for all – it's in your hands
Each year, WHO’s Save Lives: Clean Your Hands campaign aims to progress the goal of maintaining a global profile on the importance of handy hygiene in health care and to ‘bring people together’ in support of hand hygiene improvement globally.
This year, WHO calls on everyone to be inspired by the global movement to achieve universal health coverage (UHC), i.e. achieving better health and well-being for all people at all ages, including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all. Infection Prevention and Control, including hand hygiene, is critical to achieve UHC as it is a practical and evidence-based approach with demonstrated impact on quality of care and patient safety across all levels of the health system.
