The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) has launched a redesigned version of its public website, https://www.genome.gov.
Whether using a desktop or mobile device, users will experience an entirely new look and feel and have more ways to find information about NHGRI’s research, funding, and public outreach initiatives. Beneath the surface, we’ve modernized our technical environment by moving to a cloud hosting service and migrating our content to the open source platform, Drupal. Together, this provides more flexibility for our web developers and content creators and improves the stability and security of the website.
Over the past year, our communications teams have worked side by side with external experts to build the website and ensure it meets federal web standards. In addition, dozens of users have participated in testing and troubleshooting issues ahead of launch.
At NHGRI, we believe that genomics is transforming our understanding of human health and disease and creating opportunities to improve the lives of all people. As the digital ‘front door’ to the institute, our new website will play a key role in helping to expand knowledge about genomics research and enable partnerships with the diverse communities we serve.
We are excited to share our new website with you. If you have questions or wish to report any issues, please email NHGRI’s Communications and Public Liaison Branch at genome@nih.gov. |
