Ask the MD Video: Stem Cells and Parkinson's Disease

Dear Friend,

My colleagues and I often are asked about stem cells by people with Parkinson's and their families. Questions include the potential of stem cells to treat disease, the state of ongoing research, and the safety of unproven stem cell therapies offered outside of clinical trials. Research on stem cells is incredibly active -- scientists are using stem cells to learn about disease and develop treatments, and studies testing stem cell therapies in people with Parkinson's are underway. There's possibility in stem cells, but much work remains to evaluate their safety and benefit.

Watch the video to learn the facts about stem cells and Parkinson's research.

Our Ask the MD videos and blogs address commonly asked questions and relevant news to help you understand the Parkinson's experience and connect to ongoing research. Watch the Ask the MD webpage and your email for the latest.

Thanks for your interest,
