Expanded Testing for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia

Findings from a NIAID-funded study informed the FDA’s recent decision to approve two diagnostic tests for use in detecting gonorrhea and chlamydia infections in the pharynx (throat) and rectum. Now the tests may be more readily available to clinics across the country, helping to curb transmission of potentially drug-resistant infections.
