Cancer Moonshot Update

National Cancer Instutute, mynci.cancer.gov

In December of 2016, Congress passed the 21st Century Cures Act authorizing $1.8 billion of Cancer MoonshotSM funding over 7 years. To date, $1 billion of that amount has been appropriated to the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

NCI remains committed to meeting the goals of the Cancer Moonshot and implementing the 10 recommendations provided by the Cancer Moonshot Blue Ribbon Panel (BRP). The funding provided by the 21st Century Cures Act, along with NCI’s longstanding investments of its base appropriation, has enabled NCI to develop several scientific programs that directly address the recommendations of the BRP report.

Today, a blog published by Dr. Dinah Singer provides an update on the work that is currently underway with many of these scientific initiatives. We encourage you to read more in her recent blog and also invite you to visit the Cancer Moonshot webpages for more descriptive details about these scientific initiatives, along with information on the corresponding grants that have been awarded to date.
