Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Isn’t Over Yet! #BeGutsy!

#BeGutsy! Get screened for colorectal cancer if you’re between the ages of 50 and 75
It’s important to share the message year-round: screening helps prevent colorectal cancer. Even so, we’re far from done this month with sharing new and interesting resources that could help save lives and show what CDC is doing to get more people across the country screened at the recommended time.
  • The Screen for Life Campaign has lots of easy-to-understand information you can give to family and friends. There are many tests that can show problems if they exist; the best colorectal cancer screening test is the one that gets done!
  • American Indian and Alaska Native people get screened for colorectal cancer less often than the rest of the country. Find out how CDC is helping using a personal approach in this new blog post.
  • Being prepared doesn’t just mean having batteries and bottled water or a vaccine—it also means being up-to-date with your cancer screening! Check out “7 Ways to Be Gutsy” on Public Health Matters, the blog from CDC’s Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response.
And don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@CDC_Cancer) for tips and updates. You never stop protecting your health—we never stop helping you find ways to do so.

Preview: April is National Cancer Control Month

Several tests can screen for colorectal cancer—ask your doctor which one is right for you!
Cancer control means studying people to target information about preventing cancer, treating cancer, and supporting people diagnosed with cancer right where it’s needed most. Here in DCPC, that’s what we do. It’s our passion and our mission: from looking at cancer and cancer risks in communities, to stepping in with solutions, to using cancer data to find out if those solutions are working. In April, help us celebrate National Cancer Control Month by learning more about our role in reducing cancer nationwide. We’ll share success stories from state and local programs and show you the power of data, as well as how you can find out about cancer rates in your area. You can get to know us a little better, too. We’ll be showing you Faces of DCPC—the amazing people who make cancer control work. Stay tuned!
