New Grants To Study Behavioral Interventions for Opioid Addiction and Recovery

Overdose deaths, opioid misuse, addiction to prescription opioids or to illicit drugs such as heroin, and chronic pain management are tough problems that are often related to each other. Together, they form a daunting public health crisis that is of great concern and significance to many in the United States, including the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) and much of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

On Friday, October 5, the National Advisory Council for Complementary and Integrative Health (NACCIH) will hold its first meeting of Fiscal Year 2019. If you are an NCCIH grantee, potential applicant, or other stakeholder, you may be interested to hear updates on the Center’s activities, policies, and funding priorities during the meeting’s open session. NCCIH will livestream the session on NIH Videocast from 9:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. ET, and it will be archived.

Technical Webinar on Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) KL2 Program

NCCIH is partnering with the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) to provide a new research career development pathway for complementary and integrative health clinician-scientists. In this new career development funding opportunity, NCCIH will support the appointment of scholars with doctoral-level clinical complementary and integrative health degrees to NCATS Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) KL2 Institutional Career Development programs for a minimum of 2 years of research training.

NCCIH and other NIH agencies have just announced new job openings. Here at NCCIH, we’re seeking Health Scientist Administrators (Program Directors) with expertise in the following two areas:
  • Clinical research, with a background in psychology and/or neuroscience
  • Microbiology, with experience in microbiome research.
