U.S. Leads Yearlong Effort to Combat Antibiotic Resistance
Watch the Livestream (7 p.m. ET) featuring HHS Secretary Alex Azar
Next week the U.S. will announce The AMR Challenge, and you can watch HHS Secretary Alex Azar launch the Challenge at the kick-off event. The AMR Challenge is an ambitious global initiative to combat the growing threat of antibiotic resistance (AR or AMR). The AMR Challenge encourages global leaders to make formal commitments in at least one of five key action areas to further progress against antibiotic resistance. The first commitments will be revealed next week.
The AMR Challenge will begin at a side event at the 2018 United Nations General Assembly on September 25. The AMR Challenge is led by the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and builds on national momentum to combat antibiotic resistance.
