National DNA Day
On April 25, 1953, a historic paper was published on the structure of DNA. DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid, a chain of molecules that contains the information necessary for the life functions of a cell. Nearly every cell in a person’s body has the same DNA. Because of the research done on DNA, there are now over 2,000 genetic tests available to diagnose diseases or help with prevention or treatment.
