The National Institutes of Health will present a Pathways to Prevention Workshop: Achieving Health Equity in Preventive Services, June 19-20. This free workshop will focus on the three leading causes of death in the United States: cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Attendees can participate in person in Bethesda, MD, or by webcast. Registration is required.
The University of Minnesota’s Healthy Youth Development PRC is offering a Summer Institute in Adolescent Health July 29-31 focusing on "Marijuana, E-Cigarettes & Opioids among Adolescents: Navigating the Now." Participants will explore current research, legislation, and prevention strategies regarding substance use among adolescents. Registration is required.
The University of South Carolina PRC’s Faith, Activity, and Nutrition (FAN) program promotes physical activity and healthy eating through church policy, systems, and environmental change. Free new resources include an assessment and planning guide to help churches identify areas to add or increase opportunities, programs, messages, pastor support, and policies/guidelines for physical activity and healthy eating; a customizable FAN Program Plan; and monthly resources and materials to support implementation.

HONORS and AWARDS
The Case Western Reserve University PRC has been selected to receive the 2019 Ohio Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Outstanding Contribution Award at the Ohio Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' 2019 Annual Conference. The conference will be held May 2-3 in Cincinnati.
In addition, Case Western’s Delores Collins has been named a National Association of Community Health Workers Ambassador, one of 20 individuals selected nationwide. The honor recognizes Ms. Collins’ commitment to improving the health of citizens in disproportionately affected neighborhoods.
CDC PRC SPECIAL INTEREST PROJECT RESEARCH
The University of Pennsylvania PRC recognizes May as Skin Cancer Awareness Month with publications from the Skin Cancer Communication Project. This Special Interest Project focuses on understanding indoor tanning in young women and outdoor sun exposure and protection in adults ages 18-49.
