Tovah Honor Aronin & Lauren Mcmillan

Tovah has been an Editor for the BMC series since 2016. Before moving into publishing, Tovah received her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, USA, where she studied calcium signaling in yeast, developing a novel microscopy probe for real-time measurement of calcineurin activity. Tovah's path to scientific publishing started with an early fascination with Punnett squares and a focus on genetics, which then broadened into an interest in the communication and application of scientific research across disciplines. Along with working on her journals, Tovah enjoys interacting with the research community through seminars and workshops related to scientific publishing.

Lauren joined the BMC Series as an Assistant Editor in July 2018. She has a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry from Imperial College London where she also took courses in science communication.

Multimorbidity  – a Twitter investigation

Multimorbidity is the co-occurrence of two or more chronic medical conditions in a patient. Technological and social changes are resulting in increases in both sedentary lifestyles and life expectancy, which in turn lead to more people developing multimorbidity. This trends has begun putting significant pressures on the medical sector and its infrastructure. Nurses, in particular, are faced with significant challenges whilst coordinating multiple care plans for their patients’ individual conditions.
