My Gene Counsel has created the first program for consumer DNA testers who need to learn if their at-home test results are accurate and should impact their medical management – and that of their family members. This novel partnership with Ambry Genetics will bridge the gap between consumer DNA testing and medical-grade genetic testing with the launch of our One-Stop Solution, which allows at-home kit users to confirm their hereditary cancer results, accurately and from the privacy of their own homes.
Millions of people have used consumer DNA kits, and many have reported learning that they carry a genetic finding that places them at increased risk to develop cancer. Ambry Genetics was a leader in reporting that 40% of these results were proven wrong when retested in a medical-grade laboratory. Still others choose to undergo consumer DNA testing because of a worrisome personal or family history of cancer, only to have nothing found on these limited tests.
However, the bridge from the consumer DNA testing world to verification and/or further testing in the medical arena can be challenging. Many health care providers don't understand that these kits can yield useful information and need to be verified or proven wrong. Consumers have reported that this process is difficult, expensive, and can take months or years to navigate alone. Our One-Stop Solution bridges that gap.

First of its Kind

Our One-Stop Solution is for anyone who:
  • has taken a consumer DNA test,
  • has a personal or family history of cancer, and
  • still has unresolved questions.
We've created an easy pathway for consumers to get the right information, genetic counseling by phone, and if they qualify, genetic testing via a kit sent to their home. This will allow program participants to have accurate genetic testing in a medical-grade laboratory without coordinating and waiting for traditional appointments.
