Cardiovascular disease (CVD), which consists of heart disease and vascular disease, is a major cause of death in the world. Furthermore, CVD is also important as a cause of sudden death. Therefore, cardiovascular intensive care is required for patients with severe CVD. Cardiovascular intensive care unit (CICU) is a hospital ward that specializes in the care of patients with severe CVD such as acute coronary syndrome, acute heart failure, and fatal arrhythmia. Recently, medical staff working at CICU is required to have special knowledge and skills to conduct intensive care management of patients with severe CVD.
