		Children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Can Skip Radiation to the Brain Only 1.5% of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who skipped radiation had a recurrence in the central nervous system, according to a recent trial. The therapy, which is intended to prevent such a recurrence, can have devastating side effects.
		Targeted Drug Trio Improves Survival in Colorectal Cancer with BRAF Mutations For people with colorectal cancer with a specific mutation in the BRAF gene, results from a new clinical trial show that a treatment regimen of three targeted drugs can improve how long they live without increasing their risk of serious side effects.
		Durvalumab Plus Chemotherapy Improves Survival in Small Cell Lung Cancer A large clinical trial showed that adding the immunotherapy drug durvalumab (Imfinzi) to standard chemotherapy can prolong survival in some people with previously untreated advanced small cell lung cancer.

NCI-Supported Clinical Trials That Are Recruiting Patients
Tomosynthesis Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (TMIST) The randomized phase 3 TMIST study is comparing digital tomosynthesis (3D) mammography and digital (2D) mammography in screening women for breast cancer. Doctors want to know if screening with 3D mammography is better at detecting breast cancer early than 2D mammography.
Protein-Targeting Drug for People with Operable Gastrointestinal Cancers This phase 2 clinical trial will test the effectiveness of a biological drug that targets a protein produced by some cancers (CA 19-9) for people with primary pancreatic and bile duct cancer and those who have colorectal cancer that has spread to their liver. The drug will be given immediately before and after surgery. The trial is investigating whether this treatment can prevent the disease from coming back after surgery.
Combination PET/CT Scan before Surgery for Men with Prostate Cancer This phase 2 study will use positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) with radioactive material to try to identify places in the body where prostate cancer has spread. The trial is investigating whether conducting this type of imaging scan before the prostate is surgically removed can predict if prostate cancer will return.
